The Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour gives us the opportunity to know one of the most important places in Cusco. During the tour we will be able to know the villages that include terraces (agricultural and ornamental), cultivated fields located near the famous Vilcanota River and a pleasant climate, making this valley a magical and very comfortable place. It is also an excellent alternative to acclimatize to the altitude if you are planning to visit Machu Picchu or other places.

It has the term Sacred Valley because it has a variety of culture and traditions in each village on agriculture mainly due to the microclimates that contain each one.

Sacred Valley of the Incas Itinerary

This Sacred Valley Tour starts at 8:30 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco 10 to 15 minutes before the beginning of the tour, we will start visiting the Archaeological Center of Pisac located 45 minutes from Cusco by private transportation.

Pisac

Pisac will give you an idea of the advanced knowledge that the Incas achieved in architecture, as in other Inca constructions, some studies reveal that it was not a fortress, but a kind of “royal hacienda”, owned by the Inca Pachacutec, composed of terraces, domestic structures, ceremonial and aqueducts that provided water for farming, another good reason to visit Pisac is its handicraft market, where you can find some unique and authentic souvenirs.

At noon we will go to the town of Urubamba where we will enjoy the buffet lunch that will allow you to enjoy the delicious Peruvian gastronomy, Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire, currently here is harvested the best corn in the world and in rainy season abound the fruits of the valley, such as peaches, capulí, quince, top quality strawberries, among others.

Ollantaytambo

In the afternoon we will visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress which was a strategic military, agricultural and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas; this is deduced by the constructions that are presumed to have been for agricultural deposits and for military use as walls and watchtowers (probably to protect themselves from the jungle ethnic groups). This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing the impressive and large blocks of finely carved stone located on the upper terrace.

Chincheros

On the way back to Cusco we will visit the town of Chinchero, known as the city of the rainbow, to see the Church of Our Lady of Monserrat built in 1607 over the palace of Tupac Yupanqui, we will also see andenería and its artisan market.

The tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas ends in Cusco at approximately 6:30 PM.
